The impressive Lombardo villa is located high above The Lugano Lake. Designed by Philipp Architekten – Anna Philipp, the residence benefits from fantastic surroundings with a stunning view through large wall glasses that erase the boundaries between the interior area and the outdoors.
The clients had already lived in Lugano for many years before they decided to move up onto the mountain. The house consists of four levels which all have to be crossed before reaching the top located residential area. The aim was to gain the best benefit of the unique panoramic view.
The spaciousness of the living area merges visually with the overwhelming nature, emphasized by using transparency, different views and perspectives.
Bearing account to the region’s climate, the living room doubles due to the large terraces over a long period of the year. The clients rave about the 270˚ panoramic view, where under favourable weather conditions you can even spot Milan. There is nothing to disturb the splendid view of the Swiss Alps, even the water surface of the overflow pool seems to merge with the surrounding nature.
For the furnishings and the interior decorations, the main word for this project is minimalism. The extreme simplicity is often provoked by accent-walls covered in stone in the living area, intense black in the bedrooms or mosaics in the bathrooms.
The wooden constructions in the niches or the walls serve for hiding all the objects from the eyes of the visitors. The refrigerator is also integrated into a wooden frame specially designed in the kitchen.
