In this house transformation, Standal beautifully mixed the vanguardist design and furniture with an elegant touch while preserving some of the former elements in the apartment. The flat, located in Ensanche, Barcelona, it’s a successful result of mixing classical and modern decoration styles.
It’s impressive to observe the conservation of the moldings and coffered ceilings, doors, and other decorative windows in the new space.
Starting from the open kitchen and the living room that occupy a large space in the house, you might find two pieces of a leather sofa in dark shades with shiny steel legs that accompany the glass table covered with an artistic drawing.
The walls are adorned with modernist pieces of furniture in the same color as the sofa that frames the audio-visual equipment.
On the opposite side of the room is the dining area, a contemporary designed beauty with glass table suspended over pieces of concrete, guarded by modern style lamp globes. The table also highlights the large mirror opposite the window that brings in the natural light and give the space a peaceful feeling.
An exquisite element of the house it’s definitely the gallery which opens to the typical central garden of the Ensanche district in Barcelona. The gallery has uncovered brick and functions as the office for the owner of the house.
The elegant interior garden incorporates a green wall covered in vertical climbing plants which are the color accent in this outdoor relaxing space. The blue furniture in rococo contributes to the eclectism of the space.
The open kitchen follows the idea of continuity of the space. There have been chosen dark glossy shades for the counters and the island, completed with inoxidizable steel. The kitchen is characterized by pure simplicity and modern lines.
A hall that makes the connection with the sleeping area uses the light in its most decorative ways. The windows adorned with crystals and the stained glass receive the natural light while a modernist lamp that imitates giant drops of mercury adds additional lighting when necessary.
The main bedroom counts on simple lines in its design but still amazes through its originality. A suspended bed with a studied lighting installation gives the sensation of sleeping in the air.
The dressing room is the dream of very shirt-lover, as they occupy the entire surface of the wall of this room.
The bathroom is separated by the kitchen through a large mirror wall that lets the natural light entry but prevents from being seen. The designers wonderfully played with contrasts in dark tones for the ground and white shades in the toilet.
